Situated in an Old Church Hall in Little Clacton, a stones throw away from the south-east coast of Essex, Studio One Frames was established in 1973 with a brief to provide bespoke picture framing to local artists and photographers. Thirty years later, in the summer of 2003, we launched our Fine Art Printing studio, dStudio.
Built in 1868, you'll find us busy printing, trimming, finishing and packing orders in this old church hall set in the village of Little Clacton in Essex.
dStudio is now our exclusive service, we continue to provide our services to local photographers and artists, however we're honoured that creatives and businesses from all over the world have chosen our unrivalled print quality and decades of finishing experience and expertise to reproduce their images into print.
We're proud to have won the Fine Art Trade Guild's Digital Printer of the Year award twice, in 2017 and 2018, we have also been shortlisted on three further occasions for Printer of the Year in 2016, 2019 and 2022. Example prints were produced from three categories of images; artistic, photographic and a third image of our choice, our images were then lab tested and judged by a panal from the Fine Art Trade Guild.
In 2019 we became a Hahnemühle Certified Studio. We were visited by Hahnemühle UK and assessed to Hahnemühle's high standards and knowledge of archivability and longevity of art prints, their technicians also assessed our use of archival quality inks and industry standard printers, our printing workflow including colour management and softproofing options were also appraised.
We have been members of the Fine Art Trade Guild for over 30 years and we were one of the first studios to register to the Guild's ArtSure scheme, which further ensures the quality of our printing. Each paper we stock has been tested by the Guild for their archival qualities and along with the inks and printers we use. All 14 of the papers and canvas we print on are ArtSure Certified allowing us to include the ArtSure logo on our Certificates of Authenticity.
In 2021 we became a Carbon Neutral company. We annually calculate and offset our carbon emmisions to Gold Standard funds around the world, these projects help developing countries with renewable energy projects, protect areas from deforestation and support health and education projects. We understand that this is a short term solution and we must reduce our carbon footprint year on year until we reach net zero carbon emissions.
We're a close-knit team, passionate about art, photography, design and print.
