Hemp is a resource saving plant whose robust and long-lasting fibres have been a part of paper production for centuries, most notably used for the Gutenberg Bible and US Declaration of Independence. The hemp cotton blend results in a natural white tone and the subtle surface gives the paper a pleasant, silky feel. Colour and detail are reproduced brilliantly on this versatile paper. Hemp is acid free, lignin free and free from OBAs.

Hemp’s smooth surface makes it an ideal paper for digital artwork and illustrations as well as photographic prints.

Why is Hemp Eco Friendly?

Hemp is technically a weed, so it grows very quickly with little water and no pesticides or fertilizers. Growing a crop takes up less space than equivalent trees and it produces more pulp per acre than trees. Hemp is also biodegradable. Hemp crops even give back by returning nutrients to the soil and sequestering lots of carbon dioxide from the environment.

Virtually every part of the plant can be used. The stalk’s outer fiber can be made into textiles, canvas and rope, while its woody core is used for paper, construction and animal bedding. Not to be overlooked, the seeds are high in protein, fiber, omega-3 fats and other nutrients. Their oil can be used for paints, adhesives, cooking and plastics. Even the leaves can be eaten and used to make juice.
